We’ve discovered that Macy is an awesome traveler so far.  We left Thursday at 6pm to drive 9 hours to Orange Beach, AL to see my mom’s side of the family.  Macy slept the entire way!  She woke up twice to eat and a diaper change and then fell asleep again in no time.  Doug and I probably looked like deer in headlights at our first stop when we realized that we had no clue how to get everything accomplished that we needed to in that stop.  We got a little system worked out though that seemed to do the trick.

Our time in Orange Beach was a lot of fun.  Everyone loved seeing Macy for the first time.  It was nice to relax and be with family again.  It was really hot, so Macy never actually went to the beach, but we did get some pictures of her in her adorable sun hat with the beach in the background. :)

Doug and I got to go on our first “date” since she was born while we were there.  Mom and Stephanie kept Macy while Doug and I enjoyed a delicious seafood lunch.  We both missed her while we were out but it was nice just to focus on each other again for a little while.

We left the beach Sunday morning and came to Brandon so Macy could meet her great grandparents and my friends.  Luckily she was pretty good while we were at my grandparents house, so they got to see her sweet smiles and coos.  By the time we got home she was ready to go to bed, so she wasn’t as hospitable to the girls, but hopefully she’ll make up for it next time. :)

Doug and I decided that it would be nice for my grandparents to get to see Macy a little more, so my wonderful husband left his 2 girls in Mississippi when he headed back to South Carolina this morning.  We were very sad to see him go, but we’re blessed that he has so much work that he needs to get back to and that he’s so selfless to let us stay and spend some more time with our family.  Mom is going to take us home on Friday and then stay for the weekend (she just can’t get enough of SC these days :)

So, that’s been our trip in a nutshell so far.  I’ll get pictures up as soon as I can, but I’m still not really good at that technical side of this website…I’m working on it though. :)

Macy went to the doctor (aka our second home) yesterday to get her jaundice checked again.  We are pleased that it went from 11.4 to 9.1, so it’s still slowly creeping down.  Her doctor said that it could take 6 weeks for her yellow complexion to fade, but as long as it’s going down then there are no concerns.  Macy’s also growing like a weed.  She’d gained a pound in two weeks!  She now weighs 8lbs 8oz (the size I expected the baby boy I thought I was going to have was supposed to be when he was born…I was SO wrong!)

We’re still trying to figure her out.  So far she’s doing pretty well with sleeping at night and will give us 4 to 6 hour stretches, but the rest of the day is a constant guessing game.  She has no patterns or schedule what so ever.  Yesterday she only took short 15 minute naps between 2:30pm and 10:30pm so today she’s making up for it I guess and actually sleeping this afternoon.  Hopefully once we get home from our beach/Mississippi trip I can spend July getting a schedule worked out.

I’ll post more pictures soon.  It turns out that I have to resize the pictures, save them somewhere, and then put them in the gallery for it to work the way it should…ah, technology.  So as soon as Doug has time to teach me how to do that I’ll get more pictures uploaded.

Doug showed me how to post on our site so I can keep everyone updated on our lives with Macy.  The past three weeks (I can’t believe it’s already been 3 weeks!) have been a wonderful blur.  Mom was here for two weeks before and two weeks after Macy was born.  She was a great encouragement and help and Macy loved the time she was able to spend with her “Grams”. :)  Since Mom has been gone everything has been going pretty smooth.  Macy was very hungry on Monday and would rather sleep than eat (that was a first) so she was cranky, but luckily Doug worked from home most of the day so I had reinforcements.  The past two days have been very smooth.  I think Macy is starting to form some patterns (although as soon as I think I know what to expect I know she’ll change it up on me :).

Alright….. Daddy has been a little slack with posting some info, but I have had to take care of my two girls :)… It seems I am now out-numbered in the male department now except for Montana and Harley who have realized that they have been bumped on the attention scale… Anyway, Macy is doing very well and she is finally off of the machine for her jaundice and is eating well…… Jenn has been a real trooper with the night feedings and Mom Smith has allowed me to sleep in a bit at nights!!.. Macy has gained a little bit of weight and is now 3 ounces over her birth weight.. We will be going to the docs tomorrow to hopefully do a final blood check for the jaundice and get a check up…..Check out some of the new photos in the gallery and I will post some more soon!…

Then the post delivery craziness began!!!

The official stats for our new baby GIRL is……drumroll please:

doc came in from my last post and jenn was at 9.5cm!…..immediately she told me to grab her leg and the first thing that came to my mind was “what do you want me do do with it :) “…….the doc made jenn go through a test push and then stopped and said that she is not quite there but close…..she is coming back in a little after 3 for another go!!!!……we could be parents pretty soon now!…..jenn and i are now very excited and anxious……..still laughing at everyone’s comments….we love em……i think we are the most techno baby couple the hospital has seen in a while…….it gives the nurses a chance to rag on the daddy for a little bit and giggle :)…..they have great nurses here by the way!

hello to Uncle Jim & Aunt Lois….my yankee family :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…..this is awesome you guys can share in this time with us…..tell everyone we said hello and Jenn is very excited to meet you guys one of these days soon!!….ROAD TRIP….

ok……jenn has been cruising along with steady contractions…..the blood pressure has leveled out and we are now anxiously awaiting our doctor to come in and tell us when to start pushing!…. we don’t know if she is still at 7cm or not, so if we hit 10cm….this party may be getting started :)….i have updated our photo gallery to include some photos taken earlier when jenn and i arrived at the hospital….the internet access is so slooooowww, but i guess my office access has spoiled me, so it is pretty difficult to get lots of photos up…..

again the comments are AWESOME……it totally lifts jenn’s spirits and makes us smile…..we love you guys!…….

one sec…..doc just got in

May 29

ok…..im sorry, but tons of nurses and jenns doctor have been in and out of here…….we have gone from 3cm to now the doc says we may be close to 7cm!!……jenn got the epidural and she said she was good to go…..she was cruising along then we had a little scare….she and the baby had a little drop in blood pressure then the baby heart monitor had a little malfunction and stopped monitoring the baby heart rate……then BAM…..there was an entourage of docs and nurses in the room…..jenn was put on oxygen and they had to put a special heart rate monitor on the baby’s head to get the heart rate……..this shook us up pretty bad, and thus i haven’t updated in a while…..but all is going good now!!!……please keep jenn in your prayers as everything is new for her right now…..the emotions, the physical changes with the iv, and the whole hospital experience at once…….

the doc has broken her water and hopefully the baby will want to come soon!!!

by the way, i read your comments to jenn and it means so much to her right now so KEEP EM COMING!!!

we love you guys

Jenn has started to have very small contractions now…so she is smiling :)…..they are still small ;)……anyway, she now at least has been able to experience them and know what they feel like!…. We have not had the epidural yet  and it will probably be another hour before she is going to request it. The resident stopped by and mentioned that Jenn looks about 2 to 3 cm….the nurses said they will stop by about 2 to three hours now….everyone is so nice and we enjoy the “grey’s anotomy” atmosphere :)….

will try to keep everyone posted again soon!
